![RULER-1.GIF (1859 bytes)](../IMAGES/RULER-1.GIF) In a
dusty corner of our studio, we have a shelf full of carvin' books we have collected
over the years. Recently the city made us start paying taxes on them. . . they are
part of the "bizness" !! So, we need to put them to work.
This page was originally conceived as
a book-review page. We found our friend Dwight, at Mountain Heritage Crafters, was doing a great job with reviews at his site. You may also find
Dwight's reviews on a couple of the soft publications.
We decided we could do no better, so
this page lists our favorite carving books by category. These books are available
online from MHC, or your favorite supplier.
Beginning Carving
A list of our favorite beginning
carving books follows. We use some of the techniques and projects in our Beginning
Woodcarver class. A carver can start with a few basic tools and one of these
books and become an accomplished carver! Most woodcarving books present
how-to-dos for on a specific topic. These books contain a variety of projects
that involve carving in the round, relief carving, or whittling.
